Services We Provide...

• Information and Referral
Immediate assistance with landlord/tenant information and housing search is provided by the Intake / Reception staff to people who visit or call the office.  

 Self-help Housing Search Facilities
This includes a work station with our listing of private market rental vacancies, telephones, newspapers and information on nonprofit, co-operative and supportive housing options.

• Housing Search
People in need of housing are assisted with private market searches and applications for subsidized housing; referrals to appropriate support services; and follow-up to promote housing stability.
 
• Housing Information
Staff provide information on tenants' rights and responsibilities and on housing and emergency resources in the community.

• Housing Loss Prevention
Families and individuals who are at risk of homelessness work with a Caseworker to resolve their housing crisis.  Staff provide support; information on landlord / tenants’ rights and responsibilities; mediation with landlords; representation at the Landlord and Tenant Board; and referral and access to community resources.

• 
Rooming House Outreach
Caseworkers visit rooming houses to engage tenants who might be at risk of losing their housing. Working in partnership with Centre 454, Centre 507, St. Luke’s and St. Joe’s, Housing Help staff are also available at these day programs to meet with clients who are having housing issues.

• 
Newcomers
A partnership with Ottawa Community Immigrant Services continues and a Caseworker is at OCISO two days a week. 

• Casework Advocacy and Assistance
Clients in housing crisis work with a caseworker to resolve their housing difficulties. Often caseworkers will link clients to other community services in order to assist them tofind and keep their housing.
 
• Off-Site Services
Caseworkers go to specific agencies and drop-ins on a regular basis to provide services for clients in crisis situations.
 
• Community Activities
Housing Help works collaboratively with other agencies on community initiatives aimed at addressing housing problems. We are active in the Alliance to End Homelessness, the Rooming House Information Exchange Network, the Social Housing Registry and the Social Housing Network.
